Chovevei Smicha Receive Diploma

Students of Chovevei Torah's Smicha Program successfully completed Hilchos Taruvos, but were told the learning isn't over.

Students of the Smicha Program at Central Lubavitch Yeshiva's Chovevei Torah Campus in Crown Heights had something extra to celebrate this Lag BaOmer, as they successfully completed Hilchos Taruvos.

They were joined in celebration by a group of talmidim who recently completed the Hosafos (supplementary required learning in addition to Issur Veheter), and were presented with their Teudos Semicha by the head of the program, Rabbi Yosef Barber.

The talmidim were tested by prominent Rabbonim, who then offered some important and practical advice to help them advance properly in their learning.

Renowned Posek, Rabbi Avrohom Hirsh Wosner stressed the importance of constant review.

"You toiled hard in your learning plowing and planting and now you have a beautiful tree to show for it, but it must be watered regularly so it does not wither away. When you move on to the next miktzoa (topic), make sure to set up a chavrusa and review that which you have already mastered."

The Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Zushe Winner suggested maintaining a personal Shaylos Uteshuvos notebook.

"Whenever you encounter a shayla, even if it is fairly straightforward, research it to the best of your ability and summarize the issues. This way you will gain much more when you talk it over afterwards with an experienced Rov."

Many students took the opportunity to thank Rabbi Barber for his dedication and crystal clear shiurim, as well as the yeshiva for providing a great in town option to learn for smicha in a yeshiva environment with a structured curriculum.

He's an amazing mechanech because he truly cares about the success of his students and only looks at them with a good eye, with true ahavas yisroel. Hard to find teachers like that today.

Rabbi Barber is the best!
Mazel tov to the talmidim! I had the honor of being in the second year of this great program! It was my best year of learning, and I am so proud to have received such a respectable semicha. When it comes to Hashkafa, learning, and ahavas yisroel, it doesn't get any better that Rabbi Barber.
